In this video I test out three viral TikTok Hacks for the Cricut machines. First, I see if Dollar Tree markers are a dupe for the more expensive Cricut Markers. Second, I see if I can avoid cutting a roll of vinyl by clipping a roll to my mat. Lastly, I see if cutting aluminum foil works to sharpen the blades! Check out my results in the video!

Ok, that isn't sharpening the Cricut blade, that is deburring. In use, a blade develops a burr, the edge fold over. This removes the burr, same as use the kitchen iron on your chef knife or stropping a blade on a leather belt.

I have always seen people sharpening their blade by rolling a ball of foil and then just taking the blade and basically stabbing it in and out of the foil ball.

You’re not actually sharpening the blade, you’re cleaning it.

The thin part can go snug if you use a rubber band.

I have tried the aluminum foil hack & it does work well. The only difference is, I made a ball out of my foil & pointed it with my blade around 20 times. You may want to try to cut vinyl after you have ran it over the foil to truly see a cutting difference. From my understanding, the goal of the foil is to sharpen not design. Therefore the ripping of the foil is to be expected. Just my take away.
