Fountains by Floodlight - Fountains Abbey, Ripon, North Yorkshire

Good evening all. This is a short and sweet video of our little mooch to Fountains abbey, beautifully lit for the public during the month of October. A highly popular event, which saw this year sell out.

My equipment isn't the best for night photography, so I did he best I could with the few clips which were useable.

Fountains Abbey is owned by the National Trust but has a partnership on the site with English Heritage. The site is extensive, as not only is the abbey available to see, but Fountains Hall, Studley Royal and the hue garden and parks. It makes for a great day out.

In December the abbey is lit up in bright colours for the festive season. Again a highly popular and recommended event.

Wonderful to visit the Abbey at night! So cool to see all the stone work, arches, design and super cool to hear the choir singing too! It sure had a long history… great to see the model of how extensive the grounds were back in the day! 😄👌👍👍

The arch’s where the choir was singing were mightily impressive!! What a place and especially with how it was all lit up. It did look very busy quite understandably

Hi from Wales. We really enjoyed this video as we love old churches and abbeys. The male voice choir reminded me of my late father who sang in a local one. The model of the Abbey looked huge! The last time we were there when I was actually courting the then 'Miss' Metalman and that has to be 42 years ago, cannot believe we have not been back since. It looked amazing all lit up at night and loved the music that you chose for it, very appropriate. Funny, walking on the original tiles, how many other people have walked on them over the centuries, things like that always blow my mind. Nice singing lol but I was never a Queen fan 😖. What a size it was before Henry VIII decided he did not like it, imagine what it would have been like today if he had left it be, cheers Alan
