"The wall" is a timeless classic. It's very slow, but it absolutely swollowed me up and spit me out at the end. Excited to hear how you will like it!

The Wall is a remarkably well written book that I remember even after more than a dozen years.

Hi Jen, Marlene Haushofer‘s The Wall is one of the books that has impressed me immensly. I read it first when I was 25, again 15 years later.
Remarkable content.
A masterpiece in literature.
Greetings from Germany. 💁🏻‍♀️ Martha

The Wall was my favourite book of this year. I read it in April and still think about it.

I just mentioned The Forest Brims Over in a video, and when I found the book I thought: "I bet Jen Campbell would be interested in this novel!" Ha! It does sound fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful stack of new books!

I read Out a while ago and loved it, except for ya...all the weird stuff that happens towards the end. It didn't ruin the book for me, but definitely dimmed my enjoyment. I should also pick something else by her! So many lovely sounding things!!

I already wanted to get The Moth Keeper, and I'm now also interested in three new books: Bored Gay Werewolf (the parallel with What We Do in the Shadows made me want it even more), The Forest Brims Over, and The Wall! I might get some of these 3, also depending on if you end up recommending them at some point in the future after reading them.
Actually I've just caught up with the other comments and everyone seems to recommend *The Wall*, so I'm really intrigued now!

I enjoyed watching you mention Séance Tea Party, my friend Herenui gave it to me for my birthday, and she's the reason I found out about your channel a few years ago! It's a very cute graphic novel

My copy of Claudia Pineiro’s A Little Luck finally made it to my local indie and I picked it up on Friday. It will be my first Women in Translation month read once I finish the two books I have on the go right now. While I was at the bookshop, I got to see a book I’m very excited about, Disobedient by Elizabeth Fremantle. It’s historical fiction about Italian Renaissance painter Artemisia Gentileschi. The US cover is fantastic. I’m not familiar with Fremantle’s work, but the blurb sold me. I’ll be picking it up on release day, which is Tuesday. I’m now on book four of the Washington Poe series. I’m going to be sad when I’m caught up and I have to wait until next year for the next one to come out.

The Forest Brims Over reminds me of the children's book Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Won't Take a Bath Cure by Bruce Whatley about a girl who gets so dirty and Mrs. P-W recommends spreading sprout seeds over her thick layer of dirt.

I really liked "The Wall" by Marlen Haushofer (actually plan on rereading it) and would like to add that it has a great movie adaptation from 2012 as well.

I am very interested in what you think about The Wall. I attempted reading it a few weeks ago, and I DNF'd it because I got very bored. The protagonist mostly recounts her daily tasks and adds nature's changes. I didn't find the writing style beautiful or special.
There was too little self reflection or discussion about emotions and almost no existential or philosophical thoughts.
But I know lots of German speaking people who list this as one of their all-time favorite books...
