Tsunami Floods City - Blender Simulation

This is a short simulation a made in Blender 3D... (and yes, Blender is free). The bake didn't take that long at all, about one night on an i7, but the rendering of the ray traced water took well over 3 days. I should really render it with Yafray or something.
I made this a couple of years ago actually, but never got around to putting it together, because I kept running out of ram, until my recent upgrade I just couldn't encode it. I imported the actual city from sketch-up ware house and just tweaked it a bit.

Sorry there's no destruction in this video, it's too hard to implement :(

i didn't know water can have water droplets the size of residential housing

Why so many dislikes? This is actually pretty impressive, especially since blender can only let you add so many effects to a single project before it crashes.

everybody dies but the buildings remain untouched... but this is still good!

The building didn't fall down.... hello crash physics

I agree with you totally. The tools themselves can only go so far!

thats a funny sea wave.. like you dont expect to see huge blots of giant water shapes floating in mid air just like that surely :)

Wow that was a LOT of water on a small city!

I liked the cross sectional profile cutaway view. Like looking through an aquarium wall.

Looks like you've got some troubles with viscosity. (How dense your fluid is) The fluid almost flows like honey, so you definitely want to either use a water preset or lower it in the fluid settings tab.

i thought that there would be distruction but still awesome

This is a sim of the 125 ft waves you hear so much about

your city needs to be about 100 times bigger because of the size of the water drops

I bet now you could do about a .5 voxel size and the city be to scale and it will still take 3 days, but would look awesome. I am guessing the city is not real scale and the voxel size is very large but simulated at slow motion to correct scale. I still love it, I love the transparent sides you used on the city. Look on my page, I have some simple 3dsmax 2021 water fluid sims done. I wish one day GPUs and CPUS did real time water physics ! the pain of waiting is still real 10 years after your video LoL !

ignore these guys.
I'm learning blender to and its not the easiest program to get great at.
keep it up and good job!

Neat... buildings would probably bust though! nice work.

Blender3D (free) + Integrated fluid/particle system = Better when handled by people that have extensive practice with it. So...what you say is too expensive to justify it being better :)
