San Mateo County - Portola Redwoods Hike

This route takes the hiker to the highlights of Portola Redwoods State Park. It starts at the Visitor Center which offers a wonderful overview of the Park. Redwoods tower above the entire route. Wildflowers decorate the under-story beneath the redwoods. There’s a Nature Trail that explores a redwood grove & Pescadero Creek. Clear cool water courses over Tiptoe Falls. Learn about the history of this unique State Park. The hike concludes with a visit to a grizzled, 300 ft. giant that’s over 1200 years old.

🌲🌲🌲 Thank you for another relaxing video at a beautiful destination. I grew up nearby. Portola State Park is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but it is in San Mateo County, just to the north of Santa Cruz County.
Thank you for the Crayfish information. I was told that several of the water companies put them in Bay Area lakes and streams as a monitor species - if they flourished, the water wasn't too bad. I did not know that the were not native to this area.
