Rwanda severs diplomatic ties with Belgium

Rwanda says it has cut diplomatic ties with Belgium and ordered the European country’s diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours.
In a statement on Monday, the Rwandan Foreign Ministry accused Belgium of “consistently” undermining Rwanda “during the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo”.
“The Government of Rwanda today notified the Government of Belgium of its decision to sever diplomatic relations, effective immediately,” it added.
In turn, Belgium said Rwandan diplomats were no longer welcome in the country.

You forgot to mention that Belgium is the root cause of all these conflicts in the Great Lakes region, from the colonial time and its divide and rule policies. It's not a coincidence that Rwanda and Belgium are almost the same size.

I read the statement of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the issue.
I find it laughable that the Belgian Foreign Minister called the move "disproportionate"!
Personally, I think Rwanda's rebuke was waaaay too restrained. They should have pointed out the irony of Belgium's cry over the DR Congo's instability considering Belgium's own role in that instability over the history:
From enslaving its population, maiming and killing millions (estimated 10 millions) of its people during the colonial era (what many historians argue was indeed a genocide) while looting its resources;
to the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, a very prominent, promising independence-era leader and instalment of Mobutu Sese Seko, an incompetent, corrupt leader and ruthless dictator, who facilitated continued looting of the DR Congo by the same colonial powers while impoverishing its population, keeping the country deplorably underdeveloped, and keeping governance institutions of that beautiful, endowed country highly unprofessional which led to the sustained poverty, poor infrastructure, insecurity and instability that we see to this day;
to supporting the rigged elections of the current incompetent President who, as the whole world knows, was not even qualified to run for elections because his Belgian academic records were falsified.
I mean, seriously, someone really need to keep the European hypocrisy in check.🙄
