This is just a beautiful art form to look at. I took Aikido for a short while until an injury took me out of it. When my sensei a 5' female 4th dan at that time would put me into a lock, forget about trying to get out of it. This may not the most practical form of street self defense but it is definitely a beautiful and spiritual form of martial arts to practice.

I had an employee that was a second degree Aikido and he was teaching me some, but he told me most of the time only the self defense skills were taught but showed me a film of how dangerous it can be in battle !
