So, the "Guide" thinks it's OK to illegally trespass, but draws the line on being "harassed" (while still trespassing)

Very rude trespassing, and no apology. At least he has a spare door handle!

It looks like the owner has a handle on things😂

Can we just appreciate how crap that handle must be, to have come off before the interior of the car unclipped itself....

A middle aged Kiwi man is being spoken to in relation to the assault, and the injured door handle is reported to be in a stable condition.

Am I the only one who thinks the owner is overreacting? Kids seemed chill, civilized

Donating fists to faces of entitled trespassers usually prevents future violations 🤷🏽

A generation of entitlement, we can go where we like and you get stuffed. Absolutely no shame.

Surely all the guide has to say is "I apologise, and won't do it again". To say "I've nothing to say" and then accuse the landowner of harassment is plain stupidity and appalling behaviour. I love how he wrenched the door handle off, though.

And this is how societies slowly, but surely degenerate. It all starts with a lack of civility, and a sense of entitlement. Which is an attitude fostered by certain types of government.

A landowner or agent of the owner (lawyer/occupant) may need only warn the trespasser that they are "trespassing/trespassed." He need not give an explanation but has no lawful right to detain the trespasser unless he otherwise has reasonable grounds to do so e.g. further assault or reasonable force in preventing a theft. It may be followed up with a Trespass Notice. He has to allow the person reasonable time to go.
If you really wish to detain someone on your land then the best way it to block the exits by locking the gates or with your vehicle, and call the police. Be careful folks, as these situations may easily get out of hand, as they did here, particularly when fueled with righteous indignation. The owner could have been seriously injured by the car (his own fault, to a point) and he arguably "wilfully" damaged the car door handle. The "guide" and his guests were arrogant wankers. As for the guide asserting he was being "illegally harassed" he was wrong on both counts. He wasn't being harassed, in law, nor was the confrontation by the good guy "illegal." I'm allowed a little bias.

This is when you bring your Tractor along and lift their car!

Pretty brazen, organising a walk through someone else’s private property. They have no sense shame either, it’s a sad state of affairs.

What not just apologies?
Perhaps it’s their self righteous attitude &
ignorance that stops them from speaking.

What tends to work better than no trespassing signs is one saying beware of the bull where the cows are grazing.😂

Paper roads belong to NZ if he's not paying rates on it, it's mine, he didn't call the cops because it does not belong to him.

It’s polite to ask. In Australia you have to give three warnings then you may use “reasonable force” to evict them. If they resist you may increase the “reasonable force “.
