Welcome back Neobots!Today I’m going to show a really quick paint pour using high flow acrylic paint by global to make marble inspired coasters!

All you’re gonna need is:

-white paint
-black paint
-pva glue
-water
-skewers
-popsicle stick
-silicone oil (optional)
-coaster (either square, round, star etc) or use old coaster and revamp it

Firstly i gessoed my star coasters using a roller, you may also use a paint brush or sponge. for some reason my paint dried a lot lighter, if this happens you may want to repeat the process.

Once dry i then i made up my cups. i put a few drops of PVA glue and equal parts water into cup 1 with a squirt of the white paint. this helped make up the consistency of pouring medium (cheaper alternative too). Once mixed i then made up black also with equal parts pva and water. Make sure its not too thick otherwise it won’t glide over the coasters

I didn’t really follow any specific technique however i did have a few images of marble up on my screen for inspiration and to mimic some of the patterns i saw in them.

start by pouring one color onto the coaster ensuring you don’t use it all up as you 3 other coasters to cover. I chose to add white first covering entire piece and then black second to see what result i got. In a lot of marble textures white takes up 90% of color and black about 10% so don’t add too much black. my black wasn’t coming through here so i used a skewer to drag the paint around and the black began to show through.

manipulating the paint is fun but the beauty of this style of painting is not trying to hard and just let the paint glide over the surface on its own.

After the sealant is dry they’re ready for your perfect cup of joe! Hope you enjoyed this video! Thank you for watching!

I've been wanting to do something like this, but wasn't sure how. Thank you for an idea!

I got carried away with the fun I have been having making the coasters (for everyone I could think of plus plenty of extras) you demonstrated. After the white/black, I incorporated a few drops of one other color into the marbling as a subtle highlight. Thanks for a fun and usable idea.

What material are the original coasters (the star shapes) made of? Is it cardboard, or very thin sheets of craft wood? Thanks, just discovered your videos and I love them!

Your videos are so helpful, thank you for posting them! If you use regular acrylic, you add medium and water. But if you use actual fluid acrylic, can you add medium and water so you use less paint (since the fluid acrylic is so expensive)?
