Karavolas is western seaside area of Heraklion and was rebuilt together with Pankritio Stadium, where the fotball tournament of Olympic Games 2004 was hosted.

Karavolas paths lead from Pankritio Stadium to the centre of Heraklion with the sea on one side and the city on the other.

Giofyros Bridge across Giofyros River is next to Pankritio Stadium and makes the beach on the other side of the river easily accessible from Karavolas.

Many points for sitting, talking, relaxing, watching the sea and also different attractions: stone sculptures, fountain, park for dogs, skatepark, playgrounds, bicycle paths and pebble urban beach could be found along Karavolas paths, so it is popular place of locals to spending time by outdoor activities.
