I can understand that shredders are very useful for shredding all sorts of metal bits to convenient nugget sized pieces for further processing, but shredding a piece of complex equipment like a VCR or calculator seems pointless except for demonstration purposes; what do you do with the remains, dump them in a landfill? It's certainly no easy feat to separate the constituent materials when they've all been chewed up and mushed together.

The springs and hardened metals with the pieces flying off where freaking scary to watch, especially with someone hovering directly over it filming. Can you imagine getting impaled with one of those shards?!

I used to work at a scrapyard in the winter when all the construction and hardscaping jobs would dry up. I worked with a crew, we had four guys stripping the cars and appliances before I crushed them then the crushed stuff would go to the shredder and the 2 most experienced guys ran it. Every once in awhile we would get bored so we started playing around. We would put things in the shredder that would explode and be a huge spectical and try to catch the other team off guard. My favorite was an industrial size bag of flour, it made a complete whiteout 🤘😈🤘
