Chemical contained in tires found to be responsible for salmon deaths

The organic chemical 6PPD-Quinone is commonly found in tires. As those tires age, they shed rubber that ends up in waterways and has been linked to salmon deaths.

The efforts should be put towards source control, ie preventing the pollutant from entering the environment in the first place. This needs federal level legislation to amend the Clean Water Act and hold the tire manufacturers accountable.

Oh! You mean the tens of thousands of tires in the Puget Sound that Washington Ecology thought would help out the coral reef in Puget Sound? You mean to tell me that those tires aren't effecting the salmon population, but the tires that are on land?

Did anyone even bother to ask Paul Stamets about that? He probably has a pile of mycelium blocks ready to go or he can quicker than a lawsuit and a committee!!! Local natural safe long term solutions for the environment is exactly what we want. Along with the corporate entities responsible for the bill instead of our over taxed communities.
