Destined for musical greatness, Italo Skarcha is a dynamic reggae artist whose songs illustrate a deep sense of social, spiritual and cultural awareness. His first encounter with music remains unforgettable. At a very tender age, Italo’s mother took him to a Bob Marley concert in Manchester, England, in 1980 during which the legendary Bob Marley went into the audience and approached the pram that Italo was sitting in and held his hand. Italo believes that he has been given a mantle to sow the seeds of message music throughout the world. It’s not surprising that Bob Marley is one of Italo’s supreme musical inspirations. He also looks to the likes of Jimmy Cliff, Jacob Miller, Alton Ellis, Mighty Diamonds, Lucky Dube, Sizzla, Midnite and I-wayne to name a few as stars in the musical heaven for creative inspiration.

Regarded as a 2nd generation British Jamaican, Italo skarcha birth name Daniel Edwards born a grew up in Winson green, Birmingham, England. He received his education at Summerfield primay and secondary school. While in school his musical skills attracted attention from students and teachers alike. Italo recalls writing lyrics in class on occasions which explains why music education was his favourite subject. He would frequently sing for his friends who were immensely impressed by his talent.

After leaving school and recognising the need to obtain a skill for the job market, Italo Skarcha acquired training and a became certified electrician working on several construction sites in England. However, he never abandons his quest for a career in music. Italo’s Father owned a studio which was as his training ground to hone and developed his talent. His father operated “Othadox Love” sound system providing further creative stimulus. Wider support came from his friends and elders in the community who recognised Italo’s talent and urged him to pursue a professional career in music.

Further exposure came when Italo got the opportunity to show off his remarkable vocal talent on several systems such as “Love Injection” , “Ecstasy 4 X 4″ and Immoral Sound” at the annul Birmingham carnival. After a series of self produced recording, in 2007 Italo recorded and released single entitled “Heart Still A Beat” jointly produced by himself and his cousin for Italo production. The track began to generate a buzz on the streets of Birmingham. This opened doors for Italo to share stage with the likes of I-wayne, Etana, Taurus Riley, I-Octane, Morgan heritage and he sizzled the stage in 2015 when he opened the stage for his good friend Chronixx on his “Dread and Terrible” album uk tour. Later that year he went on to performing with another good friend Kabaka Pyramid on kabaka’s UK tour where kabaka called him on stage to perform their track “Wings of wings” on the “game theory riddim” live for the 1st time in front of a uk audience..

In 2011, Italo fulfilled part of his mission by making the pilgrimage to the Mecca of reggae, Jamaica.

Recorded at mixing lab studio in Kingston Jamaica, his debut single “Energy and Powers” on the 9-5-7 Music Records Ltd and the accompanying music video directed by Nordia Rose made a solid impact as he introduced himself to the world, if one is to go by the tremendous initial feedback.

Following the release of his debut single Italo worked on and released a mixtape called “Redda than red” which kept the energy flowing up to mid 2013 where Italo combined forces with international recording artist I-Wayne and recorded the hit single “Ancient Scrolls” produced by 9-5-7- music records ltd, the video to this single went to number 1 in the CVM hitlist video charts and number 3 in the Hypetv VTX charts and heavy rotation on RETV and all leading radio stations across the caribbean.

Overall Italo is a spiritual being and a big lover of nature who perceives his role in the music industry as promoting positive music that will chart a road map for the current generation and remind them of there greatness within and of the struggles that our African ancestors faced, in order for us to build on their shoulders.
