Yoghurt bowls. Lululemon leggings. Ugg slippers. More young Chinese women embrace what they identify as the "white woman aesthetic" as an antidote to the pressures of high maintenance beauty standards and material achievement. As more Chinese women question the grind and settle for less, is the "white woman aesthetic" really an innocent social media fad or a deeper awakening of class consciousness?

In the west, many if not most think they are in the so-called 'Middle"

Its very interesting to see that the high-end shopping districts and residential areas in China are copies of the high-end, luxury areas of the EU and USA.

In America, being middle class is owning a single family home, at least one car, having a college degree and a white collar job.

Appreciate your thoughts on mainstream chinese social/cultural happenings. Sadly, my Chinese ability prevents me from extensively reading Chinese social media so I can't really get the feelings OTG, but your videos help round out my general political/historical/social knowledge, thanks Sinobabble!

I would work on creating my own natural standard of beauty /lifestyle esthetics, not someone else’s.

You are one of the smartest commentators that I have listen to about China, and I've learned a huge amount from you. Your major flaw is that you're too nuanced to ever achieve the omnipresence of a Peter Zeihan!

As far as the topic at hand, as an American I am saddened to see American culture has a growing influence even in China. I find a world with multiple distinct cultural influences way more interesting than the American monoculture in the West. Every culture has its depth and it's superficialities, but it is variety that's still the space of life!
