I can't even begin to explain how dropping something in the late 80s and 90s would fix it, it was the weirdest Nowadays if you look at your tablet wrong it blue screens itself to death. 😂

Built and shipped a PC to my mom once. It got jostled in shipping and the heatsink fell off. She took it to a local repair place that kept it for a week and couldn't figure out how to fix it. I literally called them directly and had to hand-hold the tech through the entire freaking process. When he sensed my frustration with his complete lack of ability he told me "Well if it makes you feel any better this is my second job: I'm actually a cop outside of here " 🤯🤬🖕

Tbh, this is probably how some techs will look at you when you give them a board with nothing connected to it and tell them "theres a problem with it"

worked for a billion dollar company making battery testers, all boards without unsealed relays were scrubbed with dawn and tap water, then set to dry in front a fan for 1 day.
if it was an issue they wouldn’t still be doing it to this day.
it’s a lot more destructive to leave flux on the board
