A friend gave me a vinyl with this recording on it when I was about 15, at peak Jimi obsession. Always loved this track, it has such an energetic driving feeling to it.

So for this my rule was no edits and no punching in, to try and make it as "live" feeling as one dufus doing overdubs can. Each instrument was done in one take and I just have to accept the flaws. Not trying to do a note for note recreation or anything, but more about capturing the vibe and energy and having some fun.

Lonnie Youngblood was a sax player but I've done an approximation of his part on trumpet. I also added in a little chordal turnaround on organ during the breakdowns.

Recorded in March 2021.
