Shane Jansen and his twin sister last saw their biological father when they were little children. Although they were encouraged by their stepfather to keep contact with the biological father, they chose to avoid him. However, recently Shane made an effort to reconnect with his father. It was a decision that has brought his family closer together and filled a gap in his life. Tragically, Shane's father was brutally murdered while trying to help someone else. Shane has to deal with the anger about the murder plus the fact that the murderer is set free. However, Shane is able to hold his head high at the funeral, having recently made peace with his father. His sister, who did not make the effort to build her bridges with the father is distraught and will forever regret that she did not get to know her father better. Today, Shane's family is closer and stronger than ever before.
