The time has come for Mat to review the Tesla Model S Plaid!

It’s the all-new version of Tesla’s world-famous saloon, and Mat’s about to find out just how much it’s changed compared to the previous edition.

Starting with the design… Well, it’s not all that different! Chrome accents from the previous edition have been swapped with black, while a boot lip spoiler has been added to the back and the looks up front have been made sleeker.

Once you step inside, the biggest change is the introduction of the yoke steering wheel. The infotainment screen has also switched from portrait to landscape, and plush quality materials can be found throughout - no surprise given the price starts at £96,000!

However, the biggest change compared to the old model is the performance! With one motor up front and two at the back, the new Model S Plaid can deliver 1,020hp & 1,400Nm!!

So… Is it worth it? There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for his latest in-depth review!

Let's be honest here. We have a good grasp of the Plaid from other channels. But we're still excited to see that title from Matt and Carwow. And the upcoming Plaid drag races...esp a potential Plaid vs Rimac drag race.

Everytime I think of the Plaid, I always remember Doug DeMuro's reaction when he first slammed on the pedal 😂

2.4 seconds to 60 on a dirty, sandy, and slightly uphill canyon road! Let's not kid ourselves. That is mighty impressive for a 2.2 tonne car. Even though I'm not a Tesla fan, I still think this is one hell of a car. Well done Elon. Well done Matt.

I have a feeling that the steering wheel could be a very bad thing in a quickly arisen emergency situation where you just react and have to turn quickly back and forth. You would most likely lose grip of the wheel and not manouver as intended.

The highest honour a reviewer can bestow upon a car is purchasing it. This is one truly breathtaking car.

I really like cars. But out of the thousands of YouTube car channels, I like the carwow channel, because of how interesting the way of presenting any car by Mat. I love it and I'm addicted to it. Love from Sri Lanka...

For the horn, if you just slap a bunch of the buttons on the right it'll press the horn apparently. :)
As a fallback to make it less of a problem to hit in an emergency.

Great video as always! Mats genuine excitement is always fun to watch. I will likely never own a Tesla but darn it I enjoy watching every minute 😂😂

Idk but 2, 4 sec for 1000hp even with half batterie is far away from the claimed under 2sec…and that you need to prepare your batterie for 5min.
All in all the taycan is the better car even with less hp. It can delivere the power the whole time with consistence. I would have liked to see the 60-0 breakdistance

Surprised by the Buy verdict from Mat. I was sure he had an issue with the Yoke. Honestly it is the fastest car you can buy which is also a great family car. A lot of people won’t like it but Tesla don’t need them to fill their orders

Only here to see your opinion on the steering „wheel“😂🥴

Got my 2022 Model S Plaid and it's incredibly fast! I am getting used to the yoke but the horn and the glove compartment button on the screen are too much. Overall, I love it!

Having the gear selector on screen is a major negative for me. I need to feel a mechanical click or flick of a stalk/stick to be reassured that I've changed into reverse, park or drive etc.

The S is the only Tesla model where the design works well with the proportions. The interior is a step up from the older one but the yoke looks like a dumb gimmick which will probably make your chances of crashing higher.
I can appreciate the performance but it’s the accessibility of performance these days that has diminished the appeal of it overall in my opinion.

The 0-60 measurement on Little Tujunga Canyon road (my old stomping ground) is noticeably uphill. Looks like he had some fun in the Santa Monica Mountains, too.

Arrgh. I really wish the controls were a combination of physical buttons and screen, as opposed to it all being accessed that way. Apart from that... lovely car!

the plaid badge you didn't like is actually aftermarket, not stock, unless the one you're reviewing happens to be one of the first few dozen delivered in person at their launch event.
