ghios Constantinos is small seaside town and port in the regional section of Fthiotida, region of Central Greece. According to the 2011 census Saint Constantine has 2,471 inhabitants. Administratively, it is the seat of the Municipal Community St. Constantine Municipal unity St. Constantine, which lies in the municipality shore - St. Constantine. Under Kapodistrias program was seat of the Municipality of Agios Konstantinos. It is 48 km from Lamia [1] and 163 kilometers from Athens.
In place situated Saint Constantine in ancient times was the city where N Lokron Dafnonas, which was their most western town. The city was an important port and was walled. Parts of the wall are preserved at "Isomata". The area began during the Turkish creating settlements, including Vorlovos, Smallpox and Neochori. In 1832 in place Grados discovered Byzantine icon of Saints Constantine and Helen and residents of preexisting settlements were moved there, creating Agios Konstantinos. After the 1894 earthquake, much of settlements destroyed. The settlement then rebuilt based development plan. The construction of the Athens-Thessaloniki route in the 1960s, which was passing through the village, turned it into an important tourist resort. [2] The highway passing through the town until he completed the realignment of the road in 2007, which bypasses Agios Konstantinos.
Agios Konstantinos has a port which boat is connected to the Northern Sporades, with Saint George Lichadas Evia, Volos. It also has a community clinic, pharmacy, police station, post office and port authority.
