Woman plays violin while undergoing brain surgery

A musician at King’s College Hospital in London played the violin while surgeons operated on her brain to remove a tumour. The medical team asked Dagmar Turner, 53, to play the instrument to ensure parts of the brain which control delicate hand movements and coordination were not damaged during the millimetre-precise surgery. Turner was diagnosed in 2013 with a brain tumour after suffering a seizure during a symphony

She is playing the violin so that the surgeon will know if he makes a mistake. If she drops the violin or isn't able to play, he has done something wrong.

for those that do not know she is playing the violin so that the surgeons do not damage the part of her brain that allows her to play violin. If a curtain area of your brain is being worked on then they make you play an in instrument (if you play one that is) speak other languages count or anything that will help the surgeons to identify witch areas they need to Stay clear of when performing the surgery.

Chills. How brave to even be awake during the surgery. The thought of cutting through the skull is something that I'd have to train my mindset for. And, to play violin for such a length of time too. I'm sure this surgery took hours. Wow. Love passionate peeps and the medical team & admin who allowed this. Beautiful!

I heard that the part in a brain surgery that you are awake, it doesn’t hurt as much as you expect because the brain has no pain receptors and they numb your scalp
