On Monday 26th February 2018, Uisdean Hawthorn set a new record for a winter traverse of Skye's iconic Cuillin Ridge with a time of 4 hours, 57 minutes and 7 seconds.

Traverse of the Cuillin Ridge on Scotland's Isle of Skye is widely accepted as Britain's finest mountaineering challenge.

12 kilometers in length, crossing over 30 summits includings 11 Munros, a one day ascent in Summer is seen as a stern test for the most dedicated mountaineers only.

Winter ascents are much rarer than in Summer, with most parties taking two or three days to complete the route.

Where's the footage of the Bastier Tooth and the T-D gap?
But some nice filming here. Smiles

Probably they made the shooting of the Ridge after he had set the Speed record.
Mountaneering Filmmakers do this quite often, so that the climber can concentrate on moving fast and safely whilest doing the actual climbing

Great achievement Uisdean. Must have been a real joy to do that. Also, the lights were pretty beautiful, so good timing. Congrats.

Out of interest, at what point does the clock start on a timed ridge traverse? From the moment you leave the first summit? Or is the initial ascent to the first summit included, starting at a designated point?

Is it possible to climb any of these summits without ropes? I want to do at the least one of these peaks.
