Pangolins are truly unique and beautiful Animals! Pangolins are able to curl into a ball when threatened. Sadly, are many species critically endangered and there´s a significant risk of extinction! They face significant threats from illegal wildlife trade, habitat loss, and poaching! Pangolins are often mistaken as reptiles, while they’re actually mammals! Interestingly they are the only mammals with scales. These are made of keratin, the same material found in human hair and nails. When threatened, they can roll up into a tight ball, providing a nearly impenetrable shield! What’s truly remarkable is their incredibly long tongue. It can be longer than its body and be as long as 40 centimeters or 16 inches. This allows them to reach deep into termite mounds and anthills.
