I love your content. I’m a fashionista with a small wardrobe. I don’t go out much and I’m just around my house doing things like gardening walking dogs. My wardrobe is very dressy for my lifestyle, but that’s the way I like it.

Thank you for the refresher of the classic rules of dressing. My mother only updated her wardrobe 2 times a year, and was always the best dressed woman at her college job.

As a creature of the colorful and wild 80’s I’m always buying bolder pieces, some I never use! I should stick to what I know works and is long lasting. You reminded me of this. 💖

The rule I live by is personal style. All of these rules apply with it, I can certainly create my style from quality pieces with the right colors and fabrics. Another point which needs to be shared is quality fragrance. One spray is enough. Your scent should attract, .not deflect

I like your idea of solid colors. I usually opt for a print tops as it disguises some overweight issues. But I so love to see the beautiful beiges and pastel tops and outfits. Sigh . . . Someday I'll start sewing with the solid colors.

Can you do a video for mostly stay at home seniors? I'm raising a teen grandson and have fallen into the t shirt and sweats routine. I used to dress like the examples you showed and have an overflowing closet.

Finally a content creator who uses her influence for convincing her followers to buy natural fabrics instead of synthetics: It's good for their wellbeing but also for the environment. Consumers do themselves and the planet a huge favor by staying away from polyester&co by buying less, but class!

Thank you, my mother followed every one of them and current marketing blows them away from us.

Thank you so so much for such an encouraging and useful article .I am an old Style Gal now but still believe that the ability to be honest when looking in the mirror, wear stylish not fashionable clothes and never be afraid to be different or adapt a garment to suit the occasion is the way to go. Remember apart from bangles less is always more.

The rule I break is the 1/3 rd to 2/3rd vertical style. I am 5'2" apple shape size 14 or large. I have my tops ( when necessary) tailored to drop about crotch length. I never tuck in anymore because it looks terrible. I do follow the loose bottom, tighter top and vice versa rule. I also use driving loafers or lighter color loafers in summer with pants. I won't wear sandals unless my pedicure is fresh. Rarely wear sneakers but have a new beige leather pair I wore with jeans to a casual daytime concert.

Stylish and personal, as long as it's in beige, navy or grey!!! NEVER🌈🌈🌈 My rule: Forget about the rules and get creative - focus on your own taste and the rest will follow.

One thing that I realize is important is women need to notice their skin's 'undertone'. When I was in my teens and twenties, I had a pinkish (Spring) undertone that looked great with pink and peach colored sweaters, for example. I finally realized, now that I am much older that why I wasn't enjoying my clothing choices (colors) any longer is because my skin tone has now shifted to wear I need to wear more Autumn colors (pumpkin, olive green and orange reds, etc) - no more Spring colors. I tossed out a lot of my wardrobe that I wear near my face (turtlenecks, dress shirts, etc.) - bye, bye powder pinks, peach and powder blues! aaargh!

I love wool, but I can no longer wear it as it makes me itch. Silk makes me sweat for some reason. I have found that rayon in a well-made garment stays cool in summer heat. Stay away from polyester in summer. There are several synthetic fibers that come from natural sources.

I disagree on the comment about "don't go to a Taylor". This is why: Everybody, "every---body" is different! Identical twins maybe, maybe not? A Taylor is skilled & will fit the garmet to you & only you. If your garmet fits your body, it will look better & you will feel better wearing it!
