Tbh I just like how it looks, would I pay thousands of dollars for a piece, hell no. the videos are just nice to watch. At some point we need to look at art and just say “yeah, this isn’t for me” and move on to someone else that you actually like.

people love to criticize art like this because "anyone can do it" but like.. yeah that's the whole point. anyone can do art. anyone can make meaningful art. and it has value because people find value in it. we shouldn't be out here gatekeeping "real art" and saying art has to be difficult and have 17 different layers of symbolism to be "real art". if you don't like how it looks that's fine, but don't tell artists that what they create is meaningless or not real art

Idk why I never thought of this before, but the way you phrased it in the intro made me think of it: why is it always, "I could do that, therefore it's not art, " and never, "I could do that, therefore I can make art"? When did we decide that the difficulty of attaining the skills to do so is the deciding factor of what makes something art?

I hate that instead of just saying ‘I’m not really a fan of this’ people feel the need to say ‘this isn’t art’ or be extremely demeaning about someone’s work. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. But it’s still art. Just consume other art lol

This is literally performance art, where the performance IS the art, and the end product is a record/proof of the performance that the artist and the audience just experienced, and so many people just miss the point of it completely

If you don’t understand an artwork thats ok, it doesn’t mean that artwork doesn’t have the same value as something you do like!

I don’t have a problem with it, but yeah I don’t think it has any true artistic value. I’ve also done most of these techniques just for fun and they are very very VERY low skill. The whole reason they are popular IS because anyone can do them. That’s why you’ll see about 1000 other accounts doing identical work.

It’s purely decorative WHICH IS OK, it’s ok to just make fun things you like to look at, but it’s not fine art.

And to be clear I’m not lumping in all abstract art with this. There are a lot of pieces and techniques that look random and meaningless and easy that aren’t.

I think the hate comes from people similar to him. Like that one guy who basicly does the pendulum experiment over and over again and calls it art.
