OnePlus Concept One hands-on at CES 2020

The OnePlus Concept One is a lot of things, rolled up into one. It's beautiful, clad in the same papaya-hued leather McLaren uses in some of its supercars. It's powerful... though since it's basically a gussied-up OnePlus 7T Pro, it'll probably feel less powerful once all those 2020 flagships launch. And maybe most of all, it's just sort of odd.

By now, you probably know what the phone's big draw is -- OnePlus hasn't exactly been shy about it. There's an incredibly thin slice of a material called electrochromic glass above the phone's rear cameras that turns opaque and transparent when voltage is applied to it. This is hardly new technology; the Concept One relies on the same sort of tech that makes those really cool airplane windows work. Getting it to work on a smartphone scale is still quite a feat, though.

For a concept design it looks pretty ready for production to me! Looks like the best phone One Plus has designed so far.

for those of you who cant imagine what the practical use of a ND filter would be, you can take longer exposures at night without the image's exposure getting totally blown out. think light trails, star trails, fireworks, etc

This is a dynamic design. I was not a OnePlus fan but now I am. I can't wait.

I suppose if you want to hide the fact there are cameras under the tintable lens cover/screen it is useful,
will the default be with tint, and then to clear the glass put a charge into the glass or the other way around ?
Will this have an effect on battery life ?
As for the tint being used to adjust the light/shutter speed, filters,
surely it would be easier to just use computational workings to get the desired effect anyway ? and it would probably already be using that anyway ?

Should I be worried about the price of final product. Also this project would have been more worth for front facing camera. Maybe they have goal for that.

using it as a nd filter was very smart very you can do astro photography properly. Cuz... then you won't get the dirty halos, but will be able to keep much longer shutter speeds. nice. didn't know i'd need it either

Why... does this need to be "concept"? It's just a normal phone.

Useless. Only point is to hide the front facing camera.

Engadget's tone getting very Verge-ish. Everyone sounds as if nothing makes sense unless Apple does it.

That glass was developed decades ago, some places had them for about 30 years now, ain’t nothing new, please do some research before talk about tech on camera to public.
