“The Sheep Hear His Voice”

When Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber,” He was using a familiar picture. Explaining both the context and the content of Jesus’ statement, Alistair Begg reminds us that this metaphor is depicts God, who, in Christ, is the ultimate Shepherd, seeking and providing for His people. As the Good Shepherd, Jesus offers the only way of salvation. If we’re in Christ, we will know His voice and follow Him.

Hi Alistair, all the recent condemning publicity drove me to listen to your response. It made me realise how hard hearted I have become having spent hours listening to discernment channels. I totally agree with your explanation of compassion instead of condemnation. It's helped me to make some changes in my thinking. So I thank you. I listen to you many hours daily now. I had no idea who this man was until I came across a short clip, The Man on the Middle Cross said I could Come. It was from there that I started listening to some of his other teachings. I thank God for this man's teaching ministry, I was growing apathetic, disheartened, discouraged to such a point where if anyone just started talking about God or the word I turned them off. This gentleman put it back into perspective for me. It's not based on my merit, its based on what Jesus did for me. So the stanza from the hymn Higher Ground sums it up I want to live above the world, Though Satan's darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground. Thank you Alistair Begg for singing that song on higher ground and getting my attention.
