I first saw Johnny Winter at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music in June 1970. It was dark and Johnny was dressed in an all white flowing costume and was projected onto large screens. It was an incredible set, the best I've ever seen anywhere. Johnny was the best heavy/Texas blues guitarist of all time. God bless Johnny Winter!

I visited Duane allmans' grave at Rose Hill with Johnny in 1990.
I played "little Martha" on my dobro, Johnny said "sweet".
We were sitting on the Tomb playing.
Johnny said, "he didn't think he wanted to be covered with 6' of dirt".
"Because I might want to get out".
He had the biggest most genuine smile.
He was my hero.

One of the best guitar players ever. He played with his soul exposed.

I lucked out and got to see johnny along with Edger, Rick Derringer and kim Simmonds in Tacoma Washington in july 2012. I won the tickets on a radio show. I hadn't even been aware that they were comming to town. Im 67 and J W was the first record album i ever bought which tells you how big a fan I am.

Johnny was one of my earliest and most dominant influences on the guitar. I finally got to see him live in St. Louis, MO just after his stroke. He was absolutely amazing that night! RIP Johnny.

Nothing better than my buddy calling me saying " Get down to My Father's Place NOW, Johnnies playing " He'd show up unannounced all the time . RIP Johnnie .

I saw Johnny play many times, in a bar, in arenas, and with 400, 000 others at the 2nd Atlanta Pop Festival. Talked with him once in an airport - just a regular guy.
Miss you brother.

RIP Johnny. Bass player here but I so loved Johnny Winters guitar playing. Nothing but a chorus pedal for effects if I remember rightly. Wild brilliant music from a gentle soul

Johnny healed me one night…I had tickets to see him back in the early 90’s, but I got sick, bad flu like bug…I gave the tickets to a friend who talked me into going anyway…by the end of the second tune I was completely ‘healed’! His ‘trick bag’ had no bottom! Endless vocabulary of riffs! RIP Johnny!

Such a brief video really moved me. I am 66 yo and listened to JDW my whole life. Saw him alot and styled my own rudimentary playing after him. RIP Johnny, you are sorely missed.
