In the year he was born. Are we saying that about the guy whose birthday was adjusted to meet 25th December festival of pagans? Just accept that the calendar is internationalised now. People get to change names of things

It's less about how "uninclusive" it is and more about not really centering religion in anthropology anymore, to me. Also it is not at all equivalent to "The War of Northern Aggression" thing, that is part of some extensive propaganda based around framing the situation as a battle for states' rights that was initiated by the union, and this a slightly different time scale. No one is saying that BC never existed, they're just using something else.

Most historians agree he was probably based on a real person/people, not that he was real per se

You’re quite the apologist, my friend

Historians don't AGREE that he's real... They agree that he was BASED ON a REAL PERSON, not that someone with the name Jesus Christ truly existed.

"if you dont like it, just make a new time scale" what? isnt is far easier to just make a little itty bitty tiny change to make it less focussed on religion? This would be the same as saying "you dont like the metric system? Make a new measurement system" It just doesnt make any sense to do so, it will only cause more confusion. Also, if you watched the entire video, he makes a prediction about what you just said

because separating the entirety of human history based off of a religion that doesnt apply to everyone is kinda stupid, while bc is not incorrect, its dumb to use the death of a religious figure as the separator of time to over 8 billion people

Making a new time scale is easier said than done.

Oh yeah if we stop saying before Christ everyone will forget about Jesus. Buddy if he’s that forgettable he isn’t important.

Jesus is currently estimated to be born few years BC so that would make using BC/AD literally incorrect. BCE/CE fixes this issue

archeologist already have a new timescale, its called "Before present day" and uses the 1950s (i forgot the especific day) as an arbitraty but easily agreed upon moment that defines the "Present"

I can think of 3 or 4 people who are on the same level of influence of Jesus in history.

Should we do Before Gautama Buddha /After Gautama Buddha? Dude impacted deeply the philosophical and religious outlook of a region where half of the world population lives.

Before Genghis Khan / After Genghis Khan? Dude conquered everything from China to Eastern Europe, from Siberia to Iraq. Influences the whole economy and politics of the fucking known world at the time. Put his genes in a whole 1/3 of the population of Asia today.

The point is that the choice of Jesus is arbitrary and there are other, also arbitrary choices, that are equally justifiable.

So let's choose none of them. I'd rather we do like the Unix Timestamp standard: choose a completely random recent date, call that "the Standard Epoch" and start calling everything BSE and ASE.

I suggest 2020-01-01 for no fucking reason at all.
