I have been doing your methodology for over 18 years I think.
I consumed all your books and was always trying to find the next edge..

I stopped for a while and disconnected from your content for years, while I had already internalized many of the behaviors.

Recently I stumbled on your newest updated version, and once I started relistening to it I realized that I can go to the next level .
And it's all in the basics 👍

I'm so happy and excited seeing you have a huge community online and so many more new resources.
Super excited to join and seeing you help people in real life.
Not to mention how you have adapted in yourself and the new age with our overload of info and options available now.

Lots of love Dave!

Would love some feedback on this : I’ve often asked the question, “Why don’t some things get captured?” and in the beginning the habit of capturing any and all things is not well established so they don’t even come into awareness to be captured.

There is also distraction or environmental ADD kicks in and the capture item slips through the crack.

But, there is another reason why we may not be capturing some things that are actually really important and on our minds frequently.

Behavioral modeling uses the concept of strategies to model mental processes. We have strategies for everything we do, a pattern or sequence of things happen in a certain order.

Picking out a shirt could go as follows: V(visually see shirt) K(kinesthetic/feel shirt) Vc(visual construct/imagine self wearing it) -V(see price tag)-Ad(auditory digital/say to self I can afford that). Then purchase the shirt.

So the strategy model would read as follows; V-K-Vc-Ad. Now, there is a synesthesia process that’s read as V/K- which is a visual/kinesthetic synesthesia. Many phobias are V/K…before even fully seeing the snake or spider or cockroach an immediate feeling response is triggered. Well…….

I think this is also the reason why some things don’t get captured. We may see the lawn needs to be trimmed but May immediately feel negative feelings that start other strategies of stress, worry, etc. Once triggered, the negative emotions spiral out the context and we loose the original event all together.

So the problem is that the problem or event was never fully formed and verbally expressed so that it could be captured.

This was a big hurdle for me and I hope this sheds some light on other’s experience as well.

At 2:56 What does DA mean by “Virtual action reminder lists” and “linear chronological tracking”

Keeping it simple the best approach. I've been telling people that I work with "I won't forget what we agreed on, so please make sure you complete what we agreed on". I know it might sound arrogant, but yes, using the GTD basics, enabled me to maintain a simple system that fits me and helped me influence the commitment of people I work with. Hope this adds value.

Is there a description of how the to create a similar loose leaf binder as was mentioned at 3:47 in the video?

i use a modified GTD path, thank you David. I have to admit, my "days off" are spent making those phone calls, emails, etc.

My DAILY organization, becasue i have downsized, is NEARLY NEVER NOT "hit the post"
My RV is clean when i leave it, and clean when i get home. I do leave my dishes out to dry at night (trying to get comfy with minor chaos) - this takes 45 SECONDS to manage.

People here say "how do you get so much done in a day?" (and this happened in my old life too)

My answer is "you are what you focus upon"

10+ year GTD’er, still learning! Love your comment at the end about looking for the next gadget, tool or thing that will fix your productivity. In the case you described today, it was 3-ring binder and some electronic reminders; nothing really new or fancy.

I know a clients identity needs to be protected, so it would be great to see a generalized difference between the high functioning CEO’s action list versus the GTD action list. And why they functioned differently in this case. It’s a thrilling idea. Especially getting a better sense for, “his flow of ideas were channeled much more directly... with much less need to look back or rethink things." How? Why? I see it’s about implementation, but looking from the outside it’s still a little vague. I imagine some of that vagueness would be clarified by just practicing it, but it sure would be fun to know more about other people’s experiences. Even the a simple example.

I feel like this is book worthy to have people of all kinds, describe it this phenomenon between specific action lists and what it specifically did to open their minds and space for creating. And what did they create?!

This would be great for people like me who need specific examples for an idea to click, for an idea to feel worthy of investing in, and for the love good success stories.

I think what I’m understanding is that the action list really needs to be very specifically broken down, (against projects that are in order of importance, against keeping future goals in focus.) Is that about right?

I can’t wait to get started! Now.
