This is very useful. I have a DCF tent that I’d like to dye to make less visible - maybe even a random camo design.

So I've stirred up a debate over on the UL sub on Reddit on this very topic recently, not sure if you noticed. So could we get some more info on your experiment? Did you save the dyed piece of DCF? Did the dye rub out at all? Did you do any more tests with it? I plan on soaking a white DCF pack that I bought and hope it will come out okay.

Did you test if it retained its waterproofing after its fully permiated or if it retains its strength or any other tests? I have a Hyperlite tent and I dont want it white, but i also dont want to ruin a 700$ tent.

Have you tried soaking it in clean water and leaving it out in the sun to see if it will hold the dye? Also, do you know if permethrin will bond to DCM?
