From a small town police officer...I think all these officers working these inner city areas deserve a medal. There is no one braver than these folks. Imagine your city without them.

I wish everyone could go through a ride along! I did a ride along in an ambulance in downtown Oakland as a student nurse. We were called to a shooting scene with OPD. I had to hit the ground when some shots were fired in the distance. This really opened my eyes and mind. God bless each and every police officer!

The original title of this video was "This will change your mind about police." It certainly didn't change my mind. The definition of a hero is someone who puts their own life at risk in order to help somebody they don't even know. That's what the police do every day. Three cheers for the men (and women) in blue!

I'm so glad you mentioned the mentorship program! Great documentary on Netflix about it, "A Week in Watts."

I've been on two police ride alongs. One in Seattle and one in Bellevue where I live. In Bellevue I took the citizen Academy class, which included the ride along. Seriously those experiences were quite eye opening. I can tell you these people that put on that uniform are good people. All they want to do is protect innocent citizens and contribute to their communities.

My Uncles a cop in Iowa I spent two days on a ride along with him. Was great fun. I'm from Ireland so it's especially frustrating hearing Americans talk nonsense about their own Police Force and stir up hatred against them.

Thank you so much. Speaking as a recently retired police officer, its so frustrating hearing the bs anti police narrative out there every time you turn around, and not just in the media, but from family and people at church. These officers downplayed it, but there is a very powerful sense of betrayal among the guys and gals working the streets. God bless you two.

I grew up around gangs and my closest friend was killed. What you two did took a lot of courage. It's hard to do good and choose good when large groups are formed who wish harm on those who do good. I hope everyone watches this and has a change of heart about the police. Thank you for all your good works in the world. You guys are awesome!

"These kids were all 8 and under...there were no parents anywhere "

This isn't an issue of skin color....it's an issue of culture.

What that one officer said about people change their minds about police after a ride along is true.

I use to be a LEO in a large city in California and I took a friend for a ride along one night. He was always negative towards police and the actions they would take. However, after his ride along he did a complete turn around. The look on his face after the ride along was one of shock and sadness. He told me, I don't know how you can do this job and deal with so much shit from people. I told him, it's because most police officer do this job to make a difference and to help people, no matter what.

After his ride along, he had a greater appreciation for police and the work they do.

Remember, police officers deal with about 2% of the population that are engaged in crimes that no one ever has to deal with or see on a daily basis.

So the next time you see a police officer, just say thank you. It means a lot 👮‍♂️✌
