1 lb (450g) sausage Chicken (or use your favourite sausages, casing removed)
1 Dried Pepper
1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
1 White Pepper
1 Chicken Spice
1 Paprika Powder
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (180°C).
2. Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, mix the sausage meat with the onion, garlic, and herbs if you’re using them. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Prepare the Dough Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut the pastry into strips about 4 inches wide (wide enough to enclose the sausage filling).
4. Assemble the Rolls:
Place a line of sausage meat down the centre of each strip of pastry.
Brush one edge of the pastry with the beaten egg, then fold the other side over to seal it.
Press lightly to close, or use a fork to crimp the edges.
5. Cut and Arrange:
Cut the long sausage roll into smaller pieces, about 2-3 inches each, depending on your preference.
Place the rolls seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6. Egg Wash and Topping:
Brush the tops with more beaten egg for a golden finish.
7. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
8. Serve:
Let the sausage rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
