Disney Movie Club at Walmart??? - The State of Physical Media in 2024

In this video, I give a little tour of the movie section at a Walmart store as of early March 2024. I made this video especially to point out that they are selling a few previous exclusives of the Disney Movie Club, which I was very surprised to see. I also discuss the state of physical media in retail (mainly big box) stores in 2024 and how it is rapidly evolving this year as compared to previous years.

Screw digital media, we can't always relie on it to always work, plus its good to own physical copies. Especially When physical Media goes away, ill have my collection . When people are looking for physical copies of series and movies, then who's laughing now! ❤😂

I dont think physical will completly go away because with streaming the titles can disappear at anytime

I saw *Step by Step the Complete series, * and was going to pick it up thinking the price point would be around $30 to $40. Walmart wanted *$80* for it. Walmart / Disney priced an early 90s family sitcom at *$80* in the year *2024, * when very few people are still investing heavily in physical media. It's like they don't want to move units. They are being just as stubborn with their price points today as they were when *"Tv shows on dvd"* was a new concept back in 2003. There was nothing fancy about the release. No bonus features, no commentary tracks on select episodes. . . nothing. It's like they don't want to bend the knee, and admit that it's no longer 2003. Back when they could totally price gouge fans because physical media was their main / only option to view old show.

I would be sad and angry if physical media is completely discontinued

Hard To Believe, But Disney Movie Insiders Also Had A Few Of The Disney Movie Club Exclusives, Which I’ve Redeemed Myself One Of Them A Few Days Ago.

I have been collecting DVDs at Walmart for a long time, and I would never let go physical media ever cause some movies and some shows were on DVD than others.

Walmart is doing a great job adding the exclusive steelbooks and creating sections in the stores and on line. So far in 2024 I’ve found a way better selection than ever with Best Buy. The shipping is fast and titles keep coming. Very impressed with physical media at Walmart.

My Walmart doesn’t have a $5 bin anymore. They got rid of it a year ago. My last $5 movie I got was Mr. Magoo.

Nice finds! Not just the DMC releases, but I noticed one Oppenheimer on the Steelbook endcap. Haven't found any by me yet 🤞🤞

Yay, Walmart stores still have physical media releases in 2024. Although I heard about Walmart supposedly getting rid of Xbox systems games, but you didn't seam to show the video game section at Walmart here so you did not show proof of that claim.

Unfortunately a few weeks ago my Walmart did a whole bunch of renovations to their electronics section and has now minimized the physical media to be one shelf and the bargain bin. And after talking to some of the workers it seems that they won’t get many releases anymore. Indiana Jones 5 came out on bluray in December and my Walmart never got it and I ended up having to order it on Amazon. I am very scared and saddened by the current state of physical media and how the majority of average people are just treating it as garbage nowadays.

Surprised you're finding the Disney Movie Club Movies at Walmart while you guys still have the mailing service but here in Canada, (I just went to Walmart the past weekend) and never anything like this and they already shut down Disney Movie Club in Canada 😅

I used to go to Best Buy for the purpose of purchasing dvds. The presence of the dvds is what got me in the store. I often came out of the store with OTHER items from Best Buy that I decided to buy because I was there - - - a printer, a phone system, computer-related items, etc.
Now I am no longer drawn to Best Buy.
