Both of them are my favorites and look equally strong. CYF looks determined to win this time though. Sometimes it is mental preparation as well as physical training that makes a huge difference. Kudos to both 🎉

CYF court craft is superior covering all directions, but there are multiple times where she is too passive not killing her shots when required. ASY could be lacking match practice recovering from injury as she tired out in the 3rd set.

After An Se Young saved two match points and came back to win the second set, it appeared inevitable that An would win the final set. Surprisingly it was An, the younger and seemingly more robust one, who collapsed in the final set. This is revealing about An's weakness--so long as she could not wear out the opponent, her lack of the mixture of solid four corner court control and sharp attacks became her soft spot. Chen's strategy is very clear today--"let us fight the four corner control game to see who has an upper hand, and I am going to be as patient as you, and try to be as solid as you." Yet, Chen showed a richer set of skills, particularly the skill of attacking as soon as An shows a crack in the long rally. An was caught wrong-footed quite a number times. Early in the first set, when An was hit defenseless on the same spot--midcourt toward the right hand side line, three or four times, Chen amplified An's weakness in her system of strategy and tactics. Just hope An's loss today had something to do with her lack of full recovery from injury, instead of her ability to minimize her weakness with solid control and youthful physique. Look forward to their next rematch.

I agree that asy's physical condition isn't at her best due toher knee, but don't forget that cyf has been dealing with lumbar disc herniation since the AG, they both have injuries, so a win is a win and stop making excuses for their win or loss
