The Albanian micronation seems like an interesting idea. I also believe that Albania has a lot of potential as a tourist destination if you find investors that want to invest in Albania.

Promoting tolerance is cool and all, but I’m not sure why you’d need to create a brand new country for that.

I am albanian and here's the truth. In reality Albania does not need all this and i am pretty sure that they do not want to do it for the albanians. We have never had problems between christians and muslims, we are much more tolerant than all christian and muslim countries combined together. No one cares what religion you are. Behind this move there are big international political movements. The bektashi leader from albania is the only muslim leader to have met the Israeli president in tirana a few days ago. If you want to know the truth, in this movement americans and israelis are investing, to convince the muslim world that the only acceptable example of islam is the bektashi one. Albania is a Nato country and the albanian prime minister would never have made such a move without first consulting with the americans and the european union.

I'm Albanian, my father is half Sunni Muslim half Orthodox, my mom is Bektashi, my daughter and my wife are Catholic and I'm also baptised as such, and my brother-in-law is Orthodox together with my sister. We celebrate every religious holiday at each other houses, the world doesn't have any clue how fun that is. For us religion is smth very personal bcs above all else we all are Albanians.

Odd, but sounds good, especially in context against the Iranian Clerical model, which all but exports clerics globally who report to Iran.
These guys seem much more chill, liberal, and a good foil to how an Islamic country equivalent to Vatican City doesnt have to be aggressive or such

I am part of the Bektashi order although i am generally non-practising. We are very different and the history context is important. We follow rules very loosely. We are allowed to drink alcohol in moderation and eat pork, we dont call out for prayers nor we have mosques actually. It is generally not allowed for someone to marry more than 1 woman and our women do not cover. We see the role of women as important and we participate in prayers and rituals together.
