Now that Psychonauts 2 is out and this song has been reused as the theme for Raz's family, I'm imagining a lighter reprise of these lyrics with all the dark parts and references to butchery replaced with wholesome family stuff.

The meat circus is one of the most messed up levels in psychonauts, a world based on both Raz's (the protagonist) and oliander (the antagonist) worst childhood memories.

Honestly, I think the difficulty spike here is justified.

It’s hard enough to face your own fears with no external help, but now the memories of someone with arguably more traumatic experiences have just been smashed together with yours, forming an incoherent mess. Its tough because you’re forced to deal with two minds at the same time instead of just one. And Razputin’s mind is so ironclad, when someone DOES come to try and help, they can’t break through to his psyche for a while.

When you think about it, Psychonauts is basically Persona's far more bizarre platforming cousin. Both involve you traveling to worlds which are manifestations of how one views something.

This song emulate the sheer terror and difficulty in this level, I fricken love this! Also ngl I feel like our boy Raz might’ve been turned into a vegetarian after witnessing this horror mashup of trauma(believe me, I would if it had not for me thankfully not seeing anything that looks like fish or chicken).
