Just 4 companies control almost all the fertilizer in America. Fertilizer prices have tripled since 1980, farmers are struggling, and it could get even worse. Now the Kochs are planning a billion-dollar merger to drive up prices for farmers—and suffocate rural America—even more.

More Perfect Union’s mission is to build power for working people. Here’s what that means:

We report on the real struggles and challenges of the working class from a working-class perspective, and we attempt to connect those problems to potential solutions.

We report on the abuses and wrongdoing of corporate power, and we seek to hold accountable the ultra-rich who have too much power over America’s political and economic systems.

We're an independent, nonprofit newsroom. To support our work:

I have NEVER seen a business merger that lived up to the promise of lowering prices.

Koch had no business talking about poor people being poor when their greediness is costing everyone more

Many people think that it’s ok if other groups suffer. They don’t understand that greed has no limits.

This is what oligarchy in America looks like.

Most Americans defend billionaires the same way someone in an abusive relationship defends their abuser. It's ridiculous!

Get the tax payer to pay for it to be built, then privatize it and keep the profits. This is happening literally everywhere in this country. Socialized cost, privatized gains.

And foolishly many farmers voted for the guy who is now putting these kinds of people in office. Oligarchy is only good for Koch, not for farmers.

Anti-trust laws exist because we've been through this before. We've had monopolies and a few companies in charge of everything. It led to massive income inequality and a crashed economy a century ago. Corporate consolidation simply doesn't work. Yet here we are again. Making the same mistakes over and over. A hundred years ago it was Carnegie and J.P. Morgan. Now it's the Koch family. We learned it then, but we forgot.

This video touches on a glaring, yet little-known, problem in today’s America - the lack of anti-trust enforcement by government. It doesn’t just affect the agricultural industry, but each and every aspect of American life, yet almost no one talks about it.

Greed has ruined our country, our society, our planet. Greed is the root of all evil, it really is. 😢

WOW. Imagine what a social democratic economy would look like helping farmers rather than strangling them to death.

Unfortunately, most of these farmers often vote against their own financial and personal interests.

What happened to not being able to have a monopoly in USA. Remember breaking up Bell company?
