Pula is a city located on the southwestern coast of the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia. It is the largest city in Istria County and offers a rich history, natural beauty, and a vibrant cultural scene.

Historically, Pula has been influenced by various civilizations, including the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, and Austro-Hungarians. The city's most famous landmark is the Pula Arena, an ancient Roman amphitheater that dates back to the 1st century AD. It is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world and is still used today for various events and concerts.

Aside from the Pula Arena, the city boasts other Roman ruins such as the Arch of the Sergii, Temple of Augustus, and the Hercules Gate. These archaeological sites provide a glimpse into Pula's Roman past.

Pula is also known for its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters. Visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and water sports activities along the coast. Some popular beaches include Verudela Beach, Stoja Beach, and Kamenjak Nature Park.

The city has a lively cultural scene with numerous festivals, concerts, and events throughout the year. The Pula Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in Croatia, attracts filmmakers and cinephiles from around the world. There are also museums, art galleries, and theaters that showcase the city's cultural heritage.

Pula serves as a gateway to the Brijuni Islands, a national park consisting of 14 islands known for their natural beauty and archaeological sites. Visitors can explore the islands' diverse flora and fauna, relax on pristine beaches, and visit Tito's former residence, which is now a museum.

In terms of infrastructure, Pula has a well-developed tourism sector, with a range of accommodations, restaurants, and amenities to cater to visitors. The city is easily accessible by air through Pula Airport and has good road connections to other parts of Croatia and Europe.

Overall, Pula offers a mix of historical attractions, coastal beauty, cultural events, and natural landscapes, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking a combination of history, relaxation, and cultural experiences.

Old historic cities that are less touristy/crowded give a better sense of place and identity. And culture. Crowded, touristy cities rob the visitor the true context of the place. Thank you for this video.
