SITECH Intermountain video training series: Trimble Earthworks Vertical VS Perpendicular Offsets

In this video, we will discuss the difference between vertical and perpendicular offsets in Trimble Earthworks. Vertical offsets are used to create a sloped surface, while perpendicular offsets are used to create a flat surface. We will also discuss how to use each type of offset to create a desired finish grade.

Vertical Offsets

Vertical offsets are used to create a sloped surface. To create a vertical offset, you will need to specify the desired slope angle and the distance from the edge of the cut or fill. The slope angle can be specified in degrees or percent. The distance from the edge of the cut or fill is measured in feet or meters.

Perpendicular Offsets

Perpendicular offsets are used to create a flat surface. To create a perpendicular offset, you will need to specify the desired distance from the edge of the cut or fill. The distance from the edge of the cut or fill is measured in feet or meters.

Using Offsets to Create a Desired Finish Grade

Once you have specified the desired slope angle or distance, you can use offsets to create a desired finish grade. To do this, you will need to create a series of offset lines. The offset lines should be spaced evenly along the length of the cut or fill. The distance between the offset lines will depend on the desired slope angle or distance.

Once you have created the offset lines, you can use them to guide your machine as you create the desired finish grade. The offset lines will help you to keep the machine on track and to ensure that the finish grade is uniform.

Benefits of Using Offsets

There are several benefits to using offsets in Trimble Earthworks. Offsets can help you to:

* Create a sloped or flat surface with precision
* Save time and money by reducing the need for manual grading
* Improve the quality of your work by creating a uniform finish grade

Vertical and perpendicular offsets are powerful tools that can be used to create a variety of surfaces in Trimble Earthworks. By understanding how to use these tools, you can improve the quality of your work and save time and money.

Hi, If I'm adding 2 of fill to a benched slope which option would be best to use? I need the tops and toes of the benches to stay in the same horizontal location. Thanks!
