Im happy for Mikal. When he was on that podcast with Brunson and Hart a few months ago you could tell how much he actually didnt want to be in Brooklyn and how much the other two wanted to have him with them.

Now the Villanova Knicks is complete. Sure the NETS got alot of first round picks off Bridges, but the Knicks are too close to breaking through now so they need to go all in, and the NETS finally get their future back. I say good trade for both.

For those concerned about the Knicks giving up too many picks
1) they gave up no rotation players. Bogdonovic was cap filler.
2) the Knicks had a BUNCH of draft picks. They still have FOUR over the 2024 and 2025 draft (one protected). That’s 4 players that will be on the roster for their entire rookie contract potentially, plus our current roster.
3) they HAD to make their big trade this offseason, specifically before paying OG, and hartenstein. Bc of the second apron, they wouldn’t be able to aggregate contracts, take more money back, etc after paying these guys so it was now or never on him, Mitchell, or George
4) between George and Mitchell, bridges is the best fit (age, size next to Brunson, plays every game, matches up well against Boston) not to mention he’s making HALF ($24 million per year) of PG and Mitchell over the next two years

I’m a Suns fan, who disliked the KD trade because losing Mikal made it 100% not worth it. Dude is truly a Top 5 3 and D player and has evolved his game to be more developed offensively scoring on his own.

this is such a win-win trade AS OF NOW. the nets got the draft picks they needed and this can maybe be the spark that they need to build a team from the draft like they allowed the Celtics to do with the Paul Pierce and KG trade instead of building another failed super team. And then the Knicks got the iron man they needed because the only reason the Knicks didn’t make it to the ECF, and the fact that Mikal hasn’t missed a game in his 6 year career is like perfect for them (watch him tear his ACL)

Please check your boy D Mills for saying the Nets lost any chance at a good trade for Mikal all season. A main reason Marks did this trade over others was not wanting a weak 2024 pick as a centerpiece and wanting a big 2025 pick
