A fluffy, yummy sweet egg bread flavored with aromatic mahleb spice. Very popular in Armenian cuisine.
Here are the complete ingredients:
5 eggs
11/4 cup sugar (250 g)
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 1/2 tsp mahleb
1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm milk
5 cups all purpose flour (750 g)
3/4 cup softened room temperature butter

for egg wash:
1 egg yolk
1 tsp water
few drops of pure vanilla extract

bake at 375°F / 190°C for 18 - 20 minutes until golden color.

Could you confirm that this is this same as clicha or klicha...my grandma used to make these for the holidays. If not, do you have a clicha recipe or have you ever heard of it.
