It's a shame that the person with the long sword didn't try attacks from the sides (go around the opponent), a disadvantage with such direct attacks and even if the opponent has a combination of a sword and a one-handed weapon.
It's my humble opinion, I don't engage in contact sparring anymore and rather just lie in the manuals and make plays. So don't take it the wrong way from me mate.
