If it's being done to China, what are the implications for India, in case it becomes as big in the global economy as China ? The lessons from these moves are clear, India needs to focus on developing it's own technology and it's own resilient domestic supply chains. In addition, it requires continuing focus on strong bilateral partnerships with critical players on the world stage, including the West. I think the current government is focused on all these aspects and are doing a good job so far. However, the results remain to be seen.

The US would do everything to contain China and to maintain its hegemony position. Unfortunately for the US this can not be achieved simply because China is too well connected globally and it also has a population 4 times that of the US with a middle income of 400 million.

Lots of international companies might choose India for manufacturing but China is already beyond that stage China already has reached to the point with full of technical innovations that can challenge and dethrone the other countries' superiority.

currently India doesn't have any fabs, or semiconductor fabrication plants, which manufacture chips. It is generations behind China in semiconductor manufacturing.

chinese academic staff and grad students are in every corner of dutch academia and heavy industry just like in U.S. there is no department without a chinese faculty member and at least 30 percent of all the grad students are chinese if china wants the chips they can build them cos they are strong in research

This is not the entire story. Executive from ASML expressed their frustration with the pressure Americans are putting on the Dutch govt in an interview. They even went on to mention they kept selling these Lithography machines to China until 2022 and they sold alot of them. This executive even mentioned that whatever US is trying to prevent is too late. Meaning China already has these machines now every year size of the chips reducing we don't know how small chips can China produce but they already possess Lithography machines. Why the Chinese would be bothered by recent developments would be incase of repairs they would need parts and that could become problematic.

You can say it the other way that it is the end of China's dependence on WEST of CHIPS and its technology

When India will be bigger then the US will have problem with us too and do the same to us. Chinese did work hard, they did open markets 20 years ago than we did. Chinese CCP could bring back reforms as well as 800 millions out of poverty. Now, the US has problem with them.

The ability to design and make any equipment is not the prerogative of any particular nation. If you have the money and the talent it would be possible to make any high tech equipment. All it take is the will to do it, human ingenuity will make it a success.

Say what you will, the Dutch keep quietly making technological strides that surpass pretty much every other country, and nobody notices until critical times like this. ASML is generations ahead of it's competition. For context, during my working days at IBM, I spent some time doing some internal consulting work at IBM's wafer manufacturing facility in East Fishkill, NY, and it was a sight to behold. That was a few decades ago. ASML became a game changer almost under the radar, sort of like a zen thing, you know - speak little, but when the time comes, wallop everybody on the head so heavily that they don't recognize what hit them.

Yes, Palki is very positive, but there's a lesson for India here.

First of all, it is good to recognize that India is moving into the driver's seat more definitively than some people realize. Even the latest abstention in the UN (the Russia condemnation vote) was met by "we respect India's position" by even the EU. This would never have happened even six months ago.

With that in mind, it is also good to recognize that playing the victim card - as many people do - is not appropriate or necessary any more. India is undeniably on an upward trajectory, and just like the Netherlands, the best policy is to "stick to the knitting" and get better and better and better. It's already happening.

I have no doubt at all that it won't take very long for the rest of the world to be tripping over each other to do business with India - even that is already beginning to happen. When we hear critical comments by people like Soros, or someone else, it is impossible not to recognize that this is par for the course. Some people are going to hate on you when you first become successful, then they join you reluctantly, then they kiss your butt.

Speaking from afar in the US, I'm not as well versed in Indian politics as I should be, given my heritage, but it seems very clear to me that a big portion of this pride is thanks to Modi. Pride without arrogance, letting the world come to you. It's already happening, so I'd say, don't worry about the haters.

As long as India is under the West influence, I don't think it can rise to it's full potential. Just send your best people to the US and make America great again.

Its NOT the end for China ! ASML will only enforced this Summer so between now and Summer China have already ordered 100 DUVs Lithography machines which China will use to produce matured Chips which are used in most of the China's consumer electronics ! China wont just died off they always somehow find a way to get those chips they required .
