A lot of manga readers here can attest that seeing a great manga get ruined by an anime adaptation done wrong, is one of the most painful things to experience.

No lie, Spy Family is the most wholesome thing I have ever encountered and I love it unconditionally.

I really think My Hero season 5 is a good example of how adaptations, even if they’re good, can fall short of the manga. The seasons arcs are bogged down with flashbacks and filler, hurting the pace, and bones are forced to focus on movies as well as the main anime, which hurts the anime’s overall quality. The manga however, aside from Horikoshis gorgeous art, is paced fantastically (for the most part), and so arcs like MVA are given all the breathing room they need to be great rather than 6 episodes adapting 4 chapters each, while shorter arcs are not stretched out with unnecessary flashbacks and filler episodes.

Reading manga also lets you check out some really unique stories that are a bit too different from a lot of mainstream anime that are unlikely to get an anime adaption even if the stories are great. Rn I’m reading through Kaiju Girl Caramelise which is a romance story about a girl who turns into Godzilla whenever she gets flustered around her crush. It’s a really fun and delightfully weird story so far and I like the creativity it has

It has finally happened. Reading One Piece has truly broken Geoff, and now, he is a manga reader like the rest of us.

"I don't read manga because that's for nerds. I just watch Anime."
Sir... I think we are well past nerds at this point, just read the scribbles and be happy

Hey, there are some people that are just exclusively manga people. A friend of mine does not have a lot of free time, and does a lot of travel for work so manga and regular books are a way that he passes the time on trains and airports.

When I read the Dragon Ball manga the whole "I'm going to destroy this planet in 5 minutes" thing Frieza does makes more sense because the book's actually paced with it in mind. Each shot is a freeze frame in manga, but because of the nature of anime, it can't be that there, but adaptations like DBZ try to show everything from the panels (and more to fill for time because of the continuous weekly schedule it was on). So a 5 minutes battle ends up taking 20 or so episodes.

It's a good thing we don't have shows made like that as much now.

Recently binged One Punch Man, and even though I heard many people compliment the art I did not expect to be blown away that hard. Sometimes I literally stopped to appreciate all detail Murata put in to it

Not really mentioned here but there’s also tons of manga that might never get to BE made into anime. Like Shiori experience, which you should all read right now.

Now imagine being a LN reader... Only to see the manga ruin the original LN story and for the anime to further massacre it.

For people who want a really good manga to start with, I recommend Blue period. Its a well crafted manga that follows a punk as he discovers art, and chases after becoming an artist after trying it. There's no big plot holes or moments that you feel like they skip alot of progress. The art is also really fucking good honestly better then I deserve. Its one of favorite manga so there are things that i just discard cuz of my love for it, but its a really solid read read. Read the first 3 chapters if you don't like it by then drop it.

i ended up reading bleach instead of watching it all the way through and i feel like that was the best possible way to go about it. not only to skip over the entire arcs of filler, but because the art style of the manga has aged so much better than the saturated colors of the early-2000s anime. of course i watched important character intros and fight scenes, but on the whole i feel like certain mangas are just meant to remain in a print format.

I started reading jujutsu kaisen before the anime started and let me tell you how SAD I was when I realized that the scenes that hit so hard for me personally, scenes that I had to sit with for a few minutes or teared up a bit at, were nothing more than a quick line and a fleeting moment in the anime. I felt so betrayed that what I thought was important wasn't what everyone else thought was important. It really was the catalyst for me starting to prefer manga over anime.

I find manga easier to binge but there’s something about seeing scenes voiced and animated. This is the case for To Your Eternity (I was *EXCITED* when they announced an anime for it). Waiting for an Oresama Teacher anime though

Two things:

1: I would love to see a webcomic recommendation video from you, because webcomics have a lot of the bonuses you discussed here (as well as usually being free to read due to their format) but it's often an untapped market because you literally only have word of mouth to go on for finding webcomics and that can make great pieces go unnoticed simply because it hasn't been introduced to the people who would love it.

2: If you ever do decide to do a webcomic recommendation video and you haven't read "Stand Still Stay Silent" yet, read that first before doing the video. Based on your videos, especially your 'the problem with horror anime' video, it's practically tailor-made to your tastes in the thriller/horror genre.

Paused the video and just read "Look Back". Welp, was not expecting to cry today, but thx, man. Just beautiful stuff.

let’s be honest though: literally every aspect of K-ON was improved with the anime adaptation
