As someone with personal experience being a host on Turo, this guy is right on.
20, 000 miles on each car on average means it's depreciating faster than you can make the payments and keep up the maintenance.
Can you do it and make money? Sure, as long as you stay in the $120 a day market. For instance with Tesla cars where the resale value stays high and you sell it before it's 3-5 years old.

I have to disagree with you. I have rented from turo several times. The owners are getting paid for a vehicle that otherwise would just sit unused. They are making money and at least the people I have rented from seem to be pleased. You take risks in any business venture. I for one appreciate Turo.

It’s very similar to Airbnb and Uber. You have to be very detailed about your fleet, competitive and analytical If you are a turo host to ensure your return to investment and exit strategies.

Yeah, because the app, the marketing, the constant web/app improvements, the fees for all the 3rd party services, the staff, all the legal stuff that must be covered in US, Canada and UK and so on… those are all free for Turo.
