We begin our food marathon by having breakfast at Toh Soon's Cafe. Tucked in a small alley along Campbell Street, this legendary cafe is popular among local penangites and tourists. They mainly serves Hainanese Breakfast set which includes coffee, toast and half boiled eggs. A perfect combination to start off the day.

Of all the food available, Char Kway Teow is the absolute signature dish of Penang. It is a stir fried noodle dish originated from here. This local's pride is available at almost all corners of George Town with everyone of them competing to be considered serving the best noodles. We head to the famous Ah Leng Char Kway Teow location inside Tong Hooi Restaurant.

Being an island with coastal cities at the mainland, you bet Penang has the freshes seafood available. Oh Chien or Fried Oyster Omelette take full advantage of this fact. At Seng Thor's Restaurant, they serves one of the best you can find. This seafood dish boost for having a wide range of consistency of being crispy and juicy at the same time.

A little further from George Town, we drive to Air Itam for a good reason. To binge on Penang's Famous Air Itam Asam Laksa. Anthony Bourdain named this his "everything he loves in one bowl". Asam Laksa is also listed in CNN's Top 10 food to try around the world. Safe to say that this noodle soup is a definite must try when you are at Penang.

Last but not least, we go to 888 Hokkien Mee for Penang's rendition of Prawn Noodle. The essense of this dish is probably the broth. Slow cooked for hours, the ingredients includes prawn shells, pork bones and chili paste. Garnished with hard boiled egg, loads of fried shallots, pork slice, bean sprout and of course prawns, this noodle dish is suitable to be eaten at any time of the day.
