It's crazy how few people know about this but even fewer people know about the time an American ship in the region was attacked by the Israeli navy. . They said they didn't know it was Americans but it was later proven to be a lie. They killed several American sailors and we still don't know why they attacked.

Incredible how this event has been forgotten so quickly. I recall at time I was glued to CNN TV.
CNN was highly respected at the time, and was the quickest broadcaster to show the latest developments - computers were yet to became a thing.
Thank you Infoshow for the great reconstruction of the events.
Greetings,
Anthony

I can't imagine a big ship like that doing anything effective in a zigzag motion against a missile.

I remember learning about this when I was in high school, but not to this extent in details. Great job TIS!

One of the Samuel B Roberts was sunk in the Philippines in WW2. The crew members who survived getting off the ship had to swim a gauntlet of sharks. There is a documentary with a survivor of the Sammy B. He was fine throughout the documentary. Whenever it was time to talk about his experience of that time. He was in tears. You can tell it was a very traumatic experience.

Iranian should proud of themselves. They never surrender no matter how long they need to fight.

Operation Praying Mantis and Operation Nimble Archer; a total of 4 oil platforms destroyed and Iranian navy wiped out in a single engagement.

I was really surprised to hear this battle happen literally no news organizations have talked about it even with all the confrontations we have with Iran.

So USA stepped on a mine and decided to turn 6 Iran Warships into Submarines in response.

Should have finished the job back then, would not have to deal with the barbarian state today.

The downing of that airliner is really the underdiscussed tragedy of this. The radar operator panicked and thought the plane was diving for attack when data showed it was clearly climbing. Theres a cognitive bias that when someone is scared everything starts to look like what they're scared of and the operator confused climbing data with diving data because thats what he was looking out for. Such a tragedy of civilian life.
