The ESU 50310 Cab Control DCC System with WiFi Throttle that we ordered from TrainWorld came in the mail today! The ESU 50310 is a wireless DCC system that operates over WiFi and has 7 amps of power to control your locomotives, switches and signals. LokSound decoders with RailComPlus are automatically recognized by the ESU 50310.
Some of the features (as listed on the ESU website) include:
• All DCC modes (14, 28, 128 speed steps) long and short addresses
• Over 16,000 locomotives can be arranged and controlled
• Up to 28 functions per locomotive
• All Scales can be used with the CabControl system with the variable voltage 7Amp Power Supply
• Built-in WLAN Access Point
• Creates a unique Wifi-Network for your Mobile Control II Wireless throttles
• Supports at least 32 Mobile Control II Wireless Controllers
• The CabControl features a LAN port to connect the box to your home network.
• Via the home network, the CabControl can be connected to Model RailRoad Control Software.
• “ECoSlink” port for easy connection with ESU boosters, CabControl supports ECoSlink, a high speed, CAN based bus system.
While there are certainly more popular players in the market such as NCE Powercab and Digitrax Zephyr, this system has a newer feel and look and is in our opinion slightly beyond the ideas that went into the design of traditional DCC systems. It also has more than enough power for most layouts, and there is no need to plug in a controller. You can also turn your Apple and Android devices into controllers by downloading the ECoS Cab app!
