One Day in One Minute: Istanbul

Istanbul, home to 14 million people, welcomes you.

Once known as Constantinople, the capital city of Turkey is a mishmash of cultures, people, and commerce. Cross the Bosphorus Bridge early in the morning and gaze down at the constant flow of shipping traffic coming into and leaving the harbor. Once the sun is up, make your way to Sultanahmet, or the Old City. Visit the legendary Hagia Sophia, a former basilica and mosque that is now a museum. Stop in at a small café for breakfast and indulge in some strong Turkish coffee.

While you’re on your tour of Istanbul, stop by Taksim Square, home to the Monument of the Republic and a popular gathering place for locals. While walking around, you’ll find restaurants, boutiques, and a series of high-end hotels sure to dazzle even the most jet-setting travelers.

As night falls, your Istanbul sightseeing continues in the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest covered markets in existence. Just because the stars are out doesn’t mean the stores are closed, though; you can slip through over 3,000 shops arranged on 61 streets long after the lamps are lit. At the Grand Bazaar you’ll find exotic snacks, jewelry, clothing, and everything else you could possibly hope for in an ancient shopping center.

I have watched almost every city guide you have made but the one for Istanbul is awfully terrible. Did you pick up all those slummy areas, infrastructure construction sites deliberately? Moreover, the music does not represent Turkey at all. It does sound terribly Arabic, Middle Eastern. Istanbul is such a vibrant city which connects cultures, continents with her unique passionate touch. As a result, this video is completely out of taste.

I am from Turkey and i really love there. If you decided to visit Turkey, you will love Istanbul im sure about that. My city is Antalya. Check it out. Antalya is better place for holiday and vacation. Every year a lot of Russian, Ukrainian and German visit there. There is most touristic city after London and Paris. We would be honored to make you our guest!!! :)

I think you need to do a remake. the video mostly compromises of random roads and none of the mentioned places below are included in this video, I mean, you can at least include Hagia sophia, one of the oldest most historical buildings in the world. As the only city in the world that sits on 2 continents, I believe Istanbul needs a fair shot like all your other amazing videos, dont you?

SHAME on you What you did is so unfair to Istanbul. Who is your target group. It doesn't seem to me that you are targeting tourist. Where is Topkapi, where is Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Galata Tower and many other place in the video. You just show them from far for a second.. This video is a joke. Really got scared when watching this :)) Come on, Istanbul is a beautiful city, and everyone knows this. Plus, Ankara is the capital of Turkey not Istanbul : )) And, you recommend to go to Grand Bazaar as night falls? :)) After all the stores are closed?? I lived in Istanbul for 18 years and never went to Grand Bazar as night falls because there is no point : )) This section only shows Expedia's lack of knowledge about Istanbul, and almost all parts of the video are from a scary movie their intern has recently watched, nothing else : ))
