You know the tip about how to make it easier to fully load a pistol mag with a tight spring? If so you should make a quick video on that, as I think it would help people who struggle to overcome a very stiff mag spring. If you don’t already know it, it goes something like this.
Load the mag until the spring makes it very difficult, then put some pressure on the top round, and while maintaining pressure, smack the baseplate of the mag down onto the palm of your other hand. This will take all the rounds you have already loaded and use their weight like a hammer to send the spring and follower all the way to the bottom. This will basically force the spring to compress and make it much easier to load the rest of the rounds in. Using this trick I have seen people able to literally force one extra round (over the quoted capacity) into a magazine. You definitely don’t wanna do that though… but it illustrates the point of how helpful that technique is for someone who has trouble fully loading their mags. Thanks to Shadow Systems for that tip. They have a video on it if you would like to see it in action. Forcing that spring to the bottom like that will make it much easier to compress it all the way as compared to trying to compress it little by little, one round at a time using only your fingers. Also if anyone has trouble with a stiff mag spring, using the “double thumbs” technique can help, but I think a lot of people already do that just naturally.

Well you just saved me a whole bunch of time. First time I’ve owned a magazine fed rifle and I’ve been wondering why I’m so slow at reloading my mags, it’s cause I’ve been loading it like a handgun this whole time. You for sure helped me 😂

Honestly… it took me a minute to figure that out. I was at the range with my sons when I figured it out. I showed my oldest boy and he was like, “duh”. 😂 I’ve been carrying revolvers and glocks for more than 20 years. I just assumed the AR mags worked the same.
